Long before Savor opened its doors, its lineage cast an intimidating shadow. Its predecessor as student restaurant for the Culinary Institute of America’s San Antonio campus, Nao, delighted with regional Latin American specialties. The former tenant of Savor’s space, The Sandbar, was the city’s finest seafood restaurant before it closed in 2016.
Savor takes a new direction, offering American classics, rendered with imagination and finesse in a menu that José Frade, associate dean of degree programs, describes as “a true representation of the curriculum we provide our students throughout all of CIA campuses.” The result is that it’s quickly established itself as a strong dining destination.
